Develops and executes marketing campaigns, manages social media strategy, creates content, and coordinates launches across channels to drive nonprofit engagement and platform growth.
Taproot Foundation is a national nonprofit powering the next generation of pro bono service. For more than 20 years, we’ve connected nonprofits with high-quality, high-trust support from skilled professionals—so they can meet urgent challenges, grow their impact, and lead with confidence.
Today, we’re expanding that vision. We’re innovating our platform, deepening partnerships, and shaping a future-focused pro bono marketplace. Our aim: a system that meets nonprofit needs with ease, speed, and excellence—lowering barriers to access, centering community voices, and embracing innovation, including AI.
The Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications is the campaign strategist and executor at the center of Taproot’s marketing engine. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communications, this role turns strategy into finished work: campaigns planned and delivered, content written, social channels growing, and launches carried to the finish line in service of Taproot’s bold vision to build the next-generation pro bono marketplace.
The Head of Marketing & Communications sets where the function is going. The Senior Manager takes a mandate, such as a campaign around a signature event or a flagship research release, shapes the strategy, builds the plan, and leads it through to delivery. This person is a maker at heart who loves producing the work, brings the independence to carry a project from hand-off through to the finish, and serves as an engaged thought partner who pushes thinking and offers input, with clear accountability for execution.
This role carries particular ambition for Taproot’s social media presence: someone who sees social as a channel that can shape action at the movement level, takes differentiated content approaches based on social platform, and who will modernize and evolve Taproot’s presence into new platforms and formats where the next generation of pro bono talent is ready to be engaged. A tech-forward mindset runs throughout, with curiosity about emerging tools, including AI, to expand reach, speed, and quality.
Reports to the Head of Marketing & Communications, with significant accountability for campaign execution and day to day marketing and communication operations. This role has no direct reports. Works across Programs, Strategic Partnerships & Advancement, Product, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align delivery with organizational priorities. Directs the work of contracted design and production partners, and interfaces with partners and sector collaborators in support of campaigns and convenings.
Campaign Strategy, Planning & Execution
Develop the campaign strategy for Taproot’s priority initiatives, such as the brand refresh activation, the 25th Anniversary campaign, or a flagship research release, translating the marketing strategy into audiences, objectives, channels, sequencing, and measurement.
Lead two to three signature campaigns each year from plan to delivery, producing and coordinating work across channels.
Maintain a rolling 6-12-month campaign calendar aligned to narrative priorities, resourcing realities, and organizational milestones.
Develop briefs that give colleagues, contractors, and agency partners clear direction, sequencing, and success criteria.
Partner with Programs, Strategic Partnerships & Advancement, and Product on launch planning and on materials that help colleagues share Taproot’s message consistently.
Content Creation, Storytelling & Brand Activation
Write the work: campaign copy, email and web content, the stories behind research reports and case studies, and materials that support executive visibility.
Carry Taproot’s refreshed voice with a contemporary, professional standard across every channel and format.
Bring vision and ambition to Taproot’s social media, growing our presence beyond LinkedIn into platforms and formats, such as Instagram and TikTok, where the next generation of pro bono consultants is ready to be engaged.
Create sharp, compelling social content made for each platform, experimenting with formats, trends, and emerging tools, and using simple measurement to show what is working.
Partner with Programs to source and shape stories that show the human impact of skilled service.
Hold a high-quality bar for clarity, craft, and brand consistency across the team’s output.
Design Direction, Performance & Delivery
Direct contracted design capacity: scope, brief, art-direct, and review design work to a contemporary, distinctive visual standard.
Ensure consistent application of Taproot’s refreshed brand across campaigns, channels, and materials.
Manage contractors and freelancers for surge capacity, keeping high-frequency, brand-critical work in-house.
Track and report campaign and channel performance, delivering clear summaries of what is working and what comes next.
Keep the briefs, workflows, and planning rhythms that make delivery predictable and efficient for a lean team.
Other Duties
This role requires occasional travel (up to 15%), as needed.
Campaign Execution Leadership: Proven ability to build and deliver integrated, multi-channel campaigns end to end, carrying work from mandate to finish.
Exceptional Writing: A skilled, versatile writer who produces polished work across formats and carries a brand voice with consistency and craft.
Social Media Vision: Deep fluency in social platforms and formats, with sharp instincts for each platform and a conviction that social can shape action at the movement level.
Design Direction & Visual Judgment: Directs design work to a high visual standard, with a sharp eye for contemporary, distinctive brand expression.
Independent Ownership & Initiative: Self-directed; takes a mandate and moves it to done, anticipating needs ahead of the ask.
Strategic Contribution: Engages with strategy as a thought partner, pushes thinking, and translates direction into plans colleagues can act on.
Values-Driven Leadership: Deep belief in Taproot’s values of Pragmatic Optimism, Impact Orientation, Playful Professionalism, and Progress, with commitment to equity and inclusion.
7-10 years of marketing and communications experience, including hands-on ownership of multi-channel campaigns from plan through delivery.
Experience in a startup, high-growth, or otherwise scrappy and resource-lean environment, comfortable producing the work directly rather than delegating it.
A strong, versatile writer across campaign copy, email, web, and social, with the range to shape the narrative behind research reports and case studies.
Demonstrated social media fluency, with platform-native content and strategy across channels such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and short-form video.
Experience directing contractors, freelancers, or agency partners: scoping, briefing, art-directing, and reviewing work to a consistent quality and brand standard.
A data-informed approach, using metrics and audience insight to prioritize, optimize, and show what is working.
Fluency with digital tools and genuine curiosity about emerging ones, including AI, to expand reach, speed, and quality.
Self-directed and accountable, able to take a mandate and carry it to done while anticipating what the work needs.
Direct experience with or exposure to product marketing is preferred.
Nonprofit experience is welcome but not required. We are equally interested in candidates bringing startup, agency, or corporate marketing backgrounds.
Starting salary range is $90,000 - $105,000 per year. Exact placement within the range is based on location and experience.
Please submit your resume and response to the application questions.

Runs demand generation strategy and execution across digital marketing, paid media, campaigns, marketing operations, and attribution to fill enterprise sales pipeline.
Flexe is a team of technology entrepreneurs and logistics experts who are transforming the $1.5T logistics industry. We deliver technology-powered flexible warehousing infrastructure to the world’s largest Enterprise companies, creating unprecedented agility and flexibility in their supply chains. Our cloud-based software platform connects to 1300+ warehouse operators across North America, making the process of sourcing, operating and scaling logistics services fast and efficient. Flexe.com
Flexe runs an on-demand warehousing marketplace for enterprise shippers and retailers. We are also in the middle of building a category around it: spot warehousing, measured and priced the way freight already is. That is a more interesting marketing problem than another software funnel, and this is the role that turns it into pipeline.
We are looking for a versatile, hands-on growth marketer to run the demand engine that fills our pipeline. Many companies split this work across various specialists. We would rather give all of it to one person who wants the range: digital marketing and paid media, integrated campaigns from concept through reporting, the marketing operations and attribution underneath them, our events, and the handoff that lets sales act on the demand you create. You will set the strategy and then build the thing yourself, using AI to magnify your impact and close the distance between an idea and a live campaign. You should want that kind of ownership: the budget, the channels, the number, and the room to change course the week the data turns. Experience in B2B technology or logistics is a plus. This position reports to the VP of Marketing & RevOps.
While you will wear many hats, you will not be doing any of this alone. We are a small, tight-knit team: one teammate leads Flexe.com and our organic and inbound programs, another owns our messaging, content, and communications, and you will work shoulder to shoulder with both. You will also direct our outside partners, including our paid media agency and the PR firm we just brought on to sharpen our profile in the market. How the work divides between you, your two teammates, and our partners is something we will shape together in your first quarter. Most people at this level inherit someone else’s org chart; you will help draw this one. The mandate itself is fixed from day one: own the demand engine, the budget behind it, and the number it produces.
(50%) Digital Marketing & Marketing Operations
(30%) Demand Generation Programs & Campaigns
(10%) Events
(10%) Sales Enablement & Revenue Alignment
These weightings shift by quarter. Events and campaigns dominate in show season; paid and measurement dominate in between.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Must be authorized to work in the US; we are not currently sponsoring visas.
The salary range for this role is $117,500 to $165,000 depending, in part, on candidate location. Recruiting will confirm the specific range for the candidate location in the initial phone screen. All employees receive company equity as part of their compensation package.
Benefits:
Our benefits package at Flexe is thoughtfully designed to help our employees lead healthy lives inside and outside of work.

Keep every client site in your portfolio above an agreed technical health bar. Run scheduled audits, maintain a prioritized issue backlog, and partner with Delivery Managers to get fixes shipped. Be the person who notices indexing drops, Core Web Vitals regressions, and crawl budget waste before the client does.
Build and maintain a 12-month organic growth roadmap for each client, refreshed quarterly. Conduct keyword and topic research, competitive gap analysis, and content opportunity sizing. Translate findings into a sequenced plan with traffic and pipeline forecasts the client can hold you to.
Write briefs that give SiteCare’s content collaborators and client editorial teams everything they need: target queries, search intent, competitive context, internal linking targets, schema requirements, and citation-worthy elements. Review drafts for SEO and GEO fit before publish. Maintain the editorial pipeline alongside the client’s marketing lead.
Run SiteCare’s AI visibility practice across client accounts. Monitor brand and topic presence in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI Overviews using Ahrefs Brand Radar and at least one dedicated GEO tool. Recommend and implement content, schema, and entity changes that improve citation rates. Define what “good” looks like in AI search and report on it monthly.
Deliver a monthly performance report and a quarterly business review for every account in your portfolio. Lead the SEO and GEO portions of QBRs alongside the Client Success Advisor. Present audits and roadmaps to non-technical stakeholders without losing the technical substance.
Contribute to SiteCare’s SEO and GEO practice beyond your portfolio. Maintain the team’s audit playbooks, tooling stack, and reporting templates. Publish original research and point-of-view content under your name on sitecare.com and LinkedIn at an agreed cadence. Train Delivery Managers and Client Specialists on what they need to spot and escalate.
Work daily with Delivery Managers on implementation, Client Success Advisors on account strategy, and the leadership team on practice direction. Flag opportunities for development work expansions and net-new engagements when SEO findings reveal scope the client should invest in.

At 8th Light, we bring life to the best ideas.
Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Chicago, we are a technology solutions consultancy that partners with organizations from early-stage startups to the world’s largest companies. We take on hard software challenges and turn them into durable results. We build agentic products, the platforms they run on, and the engineering and design at every layer.
Our commitment to quality means we deliver solutions we’re truly proud of, while our curiosity sparks innovation and breakthrough thinking. 8th Lights thrive in an environment that champions continuous education, fueling our growth through mentorship and hands-on work. We foster an open, collaborative culture grounded in honesty that builds trust, and believe true success is measured by the outcomes we create for our clients.
If this kind of work and our kind of people energize you, you’ve found the right place.
You’re a hands-on marketer who makes things happen. You’ve spent your career close to the work, turning strategy into a steady cadence of content, events, and outreach that actually ships. You’re energized by a clear market position and the discipline of carrying it anywhere a buyer might meet us.
You understand that in a market flooded with AI-generated noise, senior buyers are moved by credible expert voices, real stories, and warm relationships. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. You’ll own the full marketing function solo, not manage a team, so you’re as comfortable in the weeds of a newsletter as you are setting the measurement strategy. You’d rather help technologists publish sharp, field-anchored points of view on a reliable rhythm than blast a generic email to a list and you have the ability to shape an expert’s thinking without being the expert yourself.
You own the system, not just the project, and you hold yourself accountable to the results. Over your 6-8 years of experience, you’ve brought:
We sell expert-led technology solutions and our pipeline tracks with how present and invested our experts are in the market. Your job is to make that presence consistent, sharpen the message behind it, and build the system that keeps it running without depending on heroics. Fractional communications director builds and executes earned media strategy, pitching healthcare trade outlets and securing press placements for MSO leadership.
Fractional Communications Director — Healthcare B2B
Part-Time Contract (1099) | Remote (US) | 15–20 hours/month
Compensation: $1,500–$3,000/month base retainer + per-placement performance bonuses
Neolytix is a 14-year-old healthcare management services organization (MSO) headquartered in Chicago, serving 270+ provider organizations nationwide across revenue cycle management, credentialing and payer enrollment, patient access, and payer contract analytics. We are entering a high-visibility growth phase, including the commercial launch of InCredibly, our proprietary credentialing and enrollment platform, and we need our leadership and our story in front of the healthcare trade press.
We are hiring a fractional communications director — an individual practitioner, not an agency — to build and run our earned media program. You will work directly with the CEO and alongside our in-house marketing team, which handles content production. Your job is strategy, pitching, and media relationships. You will not be writing blog posts.
This is a 3-month pilot engagement at 15–20 hours per month, with the expectation of a longer-term relationship (and expanded scope) if the pilot produces placements.
Base retainer of $1,500–$3,000/month depending on experience, plus per-placement bonuses tiered by outlet ($250–$1,000 per earned placement). We would rather pay for outcomes than activity, and the structure reflects that. The 3-month pilot is renewed or ended based on placements and pitch quality.
Applications that skip any of the following will not be reviewed:
